The Old Yorkville Boys’ Camp & Ranch is one of those kind of places that welcomes you from the start. After stopping by the little Yorkville Market & Cafe for a bite to eat and some last minute supplies, you head out a couple of miles on the graveled two lane county road until you reach the ranch’s entrance. Passing thru the gate you enter into an oak and fir strewn valley while paralleling a meandering creek. As the valley narrows the trees concentrate themselves to form a canopied passage and then out again - repeating itself thru the journey. Off of the primary road are jeep & horse trails in both directions leading to mountain top vistas and hidden valleys and openings beyond.  At the far eastern end you will arrive at Lawson’s Lake - a magnificent reservoir teeming with fish and awaiting the next angler. Larger ranches surround the ranch which means you have contiguous, undeveloped acreage as neighbors, creating an almost surreal sanctuary where civilization can be cast off. It also means the ranch is teeming with wildlife - wild hogs, blacktail deer, mountain and valley quail, wild turkey, etc. There are few places out there that affords one this level of privacy and serenity so close to the Bay Area. The ranch was homesteaded in the 1800s and as these plots got bought up and consolidated the ranch was turned over to sheep production. This continued until the early 1960s when the current owner, Bob Lawson, was inspired to build a boy’s athletic camp. By the mid-1960s there were 13 cabins, cookhouse, camp store, in-ground pool, baseball, football & basketball fields, shooting range, etc. The Camp was a success and provided many of young men a solid athletic foundation and a lifetime of joyous memories to reflect upon. However, by the late 1980s the times had begin to change and the momentum to keep the Camp going had faded. The Camp was finally abandoned. To this day, there are subtle reminders of this epoch scattered about - i.e. the old foundation for the cookhouse, the pool, a nostalgic leaning cabin by the creek, etc.. Since then the ranch has served as a hunting club, livestock pasture and as a “glamping” and event venue. With over 551 acres made up of 3 legal parcels, abundant spring water, electricity on-site, internal work network, year round access, gentle land, numerous pristine building sites, 5 minutes from town and only 1 3/4 hour from San Francisco the possibilities are truly endless - a canvass in need of an artist.   Property Highlights:551 acres with 3 Legal Parcels Creeks, Large Reservoir, Springs Pasture, Harwood & Douglas Fir Forests, Open Meadows Off maintained County Road with Good Internal Road Network Fish Stocked Reservoir Wildlife including blacktail deer, turkey, wild hog, quail, migratory duck, grouse, etc. Electric, Telephone & Water with many superb building sites in gentle settings
